White-tailed Deer
The most sought-after game animal in PA, deer are highly attracted to food plots planted with clover, soybeans, turnips, and other nutrient-rich crops.
Black Bear
Though not as commonly targeted with food plots, bears may visit plots with corn, berries, and high-protein plants.
Wild Turkey

Public hunting opportunities are abundant, with all 20 state forests (totaling 2.2 million acres) and 100 of the 124 state parks open to hunting during designated seasons. Pennsylvania also leads the nation in hunter density, with 14.4 hunters per square mile according to the National Deer Association. A 2021-22 hunting license survey revealed that 55% of hunters exclusively used private land, 16% hunted only on public land, and 29% utilized both.
